Who we are
Naked Compound is an independent supplement research publication operated from Bengaluru, India. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this policy mean the Naked Compound editorial team. Our contact address is privacy@nakedcompound.in.
What we collect
We divide data into two buckets: data you give us deliberately, and data collected automatically when you browse.
Data you give us
- Newsletter email address. If you subscribe to our weekly email, we store the address you enter. That is the only personal identifier we hold on newsletter subscribers.
- Contact form submissions. If you write to us via the contact page, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your query.
Data collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) logs standard HTTP request data — IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, page requested, and timestamp — for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes. We do not personally access or analyse these logs in the ordinary course of operations.
- Analytics. We use privacy-respecting, cookieless page-view counting to understand which content is useful. No personal identifiers, cross-site tracking, or fingerprinting is involved.
We do not create user accounts.
There is no login, no profile, and no persistent identifier tied to your browsing history on this site. Reader memberships, when launched, will be handled through a separate, clearly disclosed service with its own data terms.
Cookies & local storage
We use browser localStorage for exactly one purpose: remembering your light/dark theme preference across visits. The key is nc-theme and the value is either "light" or "dark". No expiry date, never sent to a server, never read by any third party.
We do not set any tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies of our own. Google Fonts may set a short-lived cookie; see the Third-party services section for our approach.
Third-party services
| Service | What it does | Data shared | Their policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosting & CDN | Server logs (IP, UA, URL) | vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| Google Fonts | Typeface delivery | IP address, browser UA | policies.google.com/privacy |
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioural tracking platform. We do not embed YouTube iframes, social share buttons, or any other widget that phones home to a third-party ad network.
Newsletter
Our newsletter is a weekly email covering new guides, updated reviews, and research notes. By subscribing you agree to receive this email. Each issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes your address from all future sends within 48 hours.
We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber email lists with anyone — not with brands we review, not with advertisers, not with research partners. The list is used for the newsletter, and only the newsletter.
Email delivery is handled by a transactional email provider. We will name that provider here as soon as the newsletter infrastructure is live (currently pre-launch).
Data retention
- Newsletter addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Contact form messages are retained for up to 12 months unless there is an ongoing correspondence that requires a longer record.
- Server logs are retained by Vercel for up to 30 days per their standard policy.
- Theme preference in
localStoragehas no expiry and is deleted when you clear your browser's site data for nakedcompound.in.
Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure of data we hold on you, subject to any legal retention obligations.
- Grievance redressal — every data request is acknowledged within 48 hours and resolved within 30 days.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@nakedcompound.in with the subject line "DPDP data request." We will respond within 48 hours.
Children
Naked Compound is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, contact privacy@nakedcompound.in and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
Material changes to this policy will be announced in the database changelog and, where we hold your email address, by direct email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The version date at the top of this page is always the date of the last substantive edit.
